Litter training pet rabbits?

posted by admin

So I’ve heard this is possible.
How do you do it, and what type of litter do you use?
Do you have to clean it as often as you do bedding in the cage?

We used regular kitty litter, the least expensive on the market. You can use whatever you like.
I think the clumping one would be terrific.

Rabbits have a really good habit of going always in the same place. If you notice in the cages, they only use one corner. Take a bit of this smelly paper and put it in your litter box. Then show the rabbit where it is.

I insisted that my daughter clean the litter and the cage bedding on a daily basis if she wanted to keep the rabbits in the bedroom.

Ok, now before you let them loose in the room get a bottle of Tabasco or something similar. Brush it on all the lamp cords and the phone cords. Rabbits do chew on stuff. You can prevent some problems this way.

Enjoy your bunnies!!!

I want a pet tarantula because I think they are cool, but I might get nervous about letting it crawl on me (it is a huge spider of course). Do you think it’s okay if you just look at it in its cage and never handle it yourself? Also, does it make your tarantula sad to never be handled, or are they not smart enough to really have such cares and emotions?

They are actually a lot better off not being handled.. I never handle mine and I’m sure they don’t mind at all..
They are not a social animal with even other tarantulas.. Females will often eat the male as soon as they’re done mating.. In other words, they don’t care about having buddies of their own kind, so, they certainly won’t care if you don’t mess with them regularly..
I have about 45 tarantulas and never handle them except as when necessary during cage maintenance or rehousing..
Many serious keepers are completely against handling because of the unnecessary stress and risk of injury that could occur to the tarantula..
